The Pointe Safe on Demand for Medical Professionals is a self-paced, CEU-accredited online course designed to deepen medical professionals’ understanding of pointe safety and the unique physical demands of ballet dancers.  Over 10 available CME credit hours, participants will explore key topics including relevant ballet anatomy, common dance-related injuries, strengthening exercises, and anatomical cueing for optimal alignment. Developed by Kendall Alway PT, DPT of SF Performing Arts PT, this course is supported by evidence combined with decades of experience in dance medicine. Pointe Safe for Medical Professionals empowers healthcare professionals to build confidence in treating ballet dancer patients.

Kendall Alway, PT, DPT

Kendall Alway is a former professional dancer with over 20 years of ballet training and over 20 years as a dance physical therapist. She founded SF Performing Arts PT in 2013 and launched Pointe Safe for Ballet Teachers in 2021. She has directed the ODC Healthy Dancers' Clinic, is a member of Dance/USA Task Force for Dancers' Health, serves as clinical faculty for UCSF, Samuel Merritt University, among other physical therapy programs, and has presented internationally at IADMS, Harvard, and PAMA. Kendall is contracted with most major San Francisco dance companies, including San Francisco Ballet, Lines Ballet, and Sean Dorsey Dance, and her practice welcomes dancers and non-dancers of all ages.
